The French oil company, which is also the largest shareholder of .U.S solar module manufacturer SunPower, will start a multimedia advertising campaign beginning on Oct. 8.
The new measure is included in the finance act for 2017-2018, which was approved by the Haiti Parliament in early September.
The company has secured €15 million in financing for the new factory from the European Investment Bank.
Government-run agency EPE had already pre-selected PV projects totaling 18 GW for the contest, which will be held on 18 December.
The new incentive scheme is capped at 35 MW and is expected to grant a special tariff ranging from $0.10 to $0.12 per kWh.
The tender is part of the government plan to develop up to 500 MW of solar PV via the World bank’s Scaling Solar program.
The facility will sell power to Pure Energy LLC, the power utility of the Mogilev Region.
Funds comprise $106 million in concessional finance and $4 million in technical assistance grant.
Through this operation, the Italian power and gas provider is further expanding into the solar sector.
The Norwegian oil company has also formed a 50/50 joint venture with the fellow solar developer to build and operate large-scale PV plants in Brazil.
