SB Energy — the renewables development arm of Japanese telecoms giant SoftBank — has switched on a 32.3 MW solar array in Yusui, Kagoshima prefecture.
The project was selected in the first round of Russia’s renewable energy tender for large-scale power plants.
Construction on the 12 MW solar facility started in February. The plant will be owned and operated by French renewable energy company Quadran.
The IPP will begin construction of the solar plant in early 2018. The tender was put out by Namibian state-owned utility NamPower, which will retain a 19% stake in the completed project.
Having collaborated on the 300 MW Cestas project, the two French firms team up again to deliver 1,500 v central inverter, transformer, monitoring and medium voltage switchgear solutions to solar projects across three continents.
The facility, located in Puerto Sandino, is one of the country’s largest PV plants. Modules provided by Recom were installed at the plant.
The prime minister of Ukraine said large-scale solar projects to be built in the contaminated area of the nuclear disaster will be selected through clear and transparent bidding rules.
The plant is located in the Republic of Buryatia, where Hevel is also planning another 15 MW solar facility. The project’s completion is scheduled for December 2017.
Engineering firm Cypark Resources has signed contracts to build two utility-scale PV projects for MYR 75.01 million ($17.4 million) in the Malaysian state of Negeri Sembilan.
The power company has bought the 180 MW Upton County Solar 2 project in West Texas, and signed a contract to have the project built.
