Solar Frontier to supply world’s biggest CIS/CIGS project

Japanese thin-film producer Solar Frontier has announced today that it will supply a 100 MW Californian power plant. The company has already delivered 26 MW Catalina Solar Project, in Kern County, California, which is set to become the world’s biggest installation of its kind.

New York City-area firms receive $30 million for solar projects

REC reports contract termination payments

Norway-based solar company Renewable Energy Corporation has today reported wafer contract cash compensation in the order of NOK200 million (USD33.32 million). The payments will be received in the first quarter of 2012.

Support for young German enterprises

Intersolar Europe, in association with BMWi (German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology), has announced that it will support young solar businesses at the PV conference in Munich, Germany for the fifth year running.

California: 700 MW of PV projects approved

The Californian Public Utilities Commission approved today approved five renewable energy contracts worth 1,088MW. Three of the agreements were signed with Southern California Edison and Solar Star California–which is subsidiary of SunPower–for the Quinto, AVSP I and AVSP II photovoltaic projects, collectively worth 711 megawatt (MW).

Q-Cells: negotiations with bond creditors put on hold

EXCLUSIVE: The payment of a bond, which is soon to be due, is being delayed by a complaint against the chosen representative of creditors. The repayment amounts to approximately €200 million, that becomes due at the end of February.
