China Sunergy positive despite sequential declines

Despite an industry slowdown in the shipment of photovoltaic modules, China Sunergy has met its first quarter shipment guidance. And, while sequential declines were experienced, the company posted year-on-year profits. Inventory levels were, however, high.

Germany: SolarWorld opens 600 MW PV module factory

SolarWorld AG has opened Germany’s largest photovoltaic module manufacturing facility. The capacity expansion takes the company’s annual production from 170 megawatts (MW) to 600. Over 250 extra jobs are also expected to be created.

SDG&E and Soitec sign CPV contracts worth 125 MW

San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) and subsidiaries of Soitec Solar Development, LLC have signed two 25-year solar contracts worth a total of 125 megawatts (MW) to be generated in the utility’s service territory.
