The 14th edition of the China Awards took place yesterday, 10 December 2019, at the Museo della Scienza e della Tecnologia in Milan. FuturaSun, a company specialising in the design and manufacture of high-efficiency photovoltaic panels, received the award  “Top Investors in China”.

This award, promoted by Fondazione Italia Cina and MF- Milano Finanza, is given every year to Italian companies that have consolidated their relationship with China, seizing significant business opportunities in both markets.

FuturaSun has been awarded in the category Top Investors in China since the Italian company, first in Europe, has been investing in China, exporting Italian technology to manufacture photovoltaic panels.

FuturaSun was established in 2008, taking up the legacy of Italy’s photovoltaic industry, which, at that time, was undergoing major restructuring. Over the years, this company has combined experience and technological expertise with the opportunities granted by China’s economic development, building solid relationships with Chinese institutions and major industrial players and developing a deep knowledge of the Chinese culture and market. Moving smoothly between these two cultures, FuturaSun has been able to take on the demanding challenges of the international market.

Its latest milestone is the opening of the new 20,000 m2 plant in Taizhou, in the province of Jiangsu. The core of the production of photovoltaic panels lies in the new Silk stringing machines, designed in Italy by FuturaSun in collaboration with a spin-off of the University of Padua. The new patented stringing machines stand out for their innovative welding system, doubled production speed in less space, and the quality of the modules.

This entrepreneurial project has led to significant growth in turnover: from € 13 million in 2018 to € 26 million in 2019 (+100%).

Alessandro Barin – CEO of FuturaSun – represented the company at the 2019 China Awards, collecting the award. These were his words: “This important acknowledgement is a true honour for FuturaSun as it highlights the benefits resulting from the exchange of ideas, capital, goods and services between Italy and China. Our entrepreneurial dream of development in the renewable energy sector has found a unique opportunity for growth in this bicultural dynamic. The secret has always been the same in all these years: commitment, enthusiasm, and teamwork.”

The 2019 China Awards was followed by the charity dinner for Ai.Bi – Associazione Amici dei Bambini, a non-governmental organisation that focuses on international adoptions, even from China.
