The event takes place from 5 to 9 September 2011 (Conference 5 to 9 September 2011 – Exhibition 5 to 8 September 2011). This unique PV solar gathering constitutes the world’s leading science-to-science, business-to-business and science-to-industry forum for the global PV Solar sector.

Forum to present the latest Progress in PV Development and Manufacturing

The 26th EU PVSEC Conference opens on Monday, 5 September 2011, 08:30 with four plenary presentations on Advanced Photovoltaics highlighting new concepts and ultra-high efficiency. In this first session the EU PVSEC follows its tradition to outline the current status and the potential of PV technologies of tomorrow. The EU PVSEC Opening at 10:30 features contributions from Giovanni F. De Santi, Director of the Institute for Energy and Transport, European Commission, from DOE, US Department of Energy, Solar Energy Program, represented by Minh Le, from UNESCO’s Natural Sciences Sector, represented by Osman Benchikh, and for the international PV industry from Ingmar Wilhelm, President of EPIA, the European Photovoltaic Industry Association.

A highlight of the EU PVSEC Opening is the keynote speech by Dan Arvizu, Director and Chief Executive, U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory. His visionary speech addresses the possible role that PV can and shall play in the future, if the goals of a safe, secure and sustainable energy supply are to be realised.

26th EU PVSEC Conference

The Conference Programme of the 26th EU PVSEC covers the entire scope of PV technologies including sessions and presentations on the subjects:

  • Advanced Photovoltaics: New Concepts and Ultra-High Efficiency
  • Wafer-Based Silicon Solar Cells and Materials Technology
  • Thin Film Solar Cells
  • Components for PV Systems
  • PV Systems
  • PV Taking Off: Large-Scale Deployment

The Conference Programme is defined and structured under the guidance of Conference General Chairman Heinz Ossenbrink and Technical Programme Chairman Arnulf Jäger-Waldau, both from the European Commission, DG Joint Research Centre. Over 4,000 Conference Delegates are expected to attend the 82 Sessions with 28 Plenary, 313 Oral and 1,150 Visual Poster Presentations. This makes the 26th EU PVSEC once again the largest PV conference worldwide. Prominent speakers from international research facilities and from the global PV industry give an overview and outlook on the latest technologies and future challenges of photovoltaics.

26th EU PVSEC Exhibition

Having occupied 65,000 square metres in Hamburg in 2009, the exhibition area for the 26th EU PVSEC has been expanded to 80,000 square metres in nine exhibition halls. PV professionals from more than 100 countries are expected to attend the industry show. The EU PVSEC Industry Exhibition represents the entire PV value chain. 999 international exhibitors include manufacturers of PV production equipment, manufacturers of photovoltaic solar cells and modules, systems suppliers, companies and organisations specialised in project development, research institutes, finance and consultancy. Manufacturers of PV production equipment represent the largest industry segment at this show, closely followed by manufacturers of PV solar cells and modules.

26th EU PVSEC Parallel Events

A number of Parallel Events take place in addition to the Scientific Conference Programme and the PV Industry Exhibition. The EU PVSEC Parallel Events have been expanded in 2011 by new elements. Those one-day events offer a deep insight into specific topics and include the latest scientific, technological, market and business related trends.
