ABB to showcase entire solar inverter portfolio at Intersolar 2015

Share

ABB is introducing at Intersolar Europe 2015 new solutions to maximize the return on investment (ROI) of photovoltaic installations. ABB, globally the second largest supplier of solar inverters and one of the largest suppliers for the wind power industry, takes a leading role in the efficient and reliable integration of renewable energies into the power grid. The company supports the construction of the largest fast-charging network for electric vehicles in Europe and supplies key components to the world’s largest network of fast-charging stations in China.

ABB is accompanying the solar plane Solar Impulse and its crew on their first round-the-world trip, which is accomplished without any fuel, solely with solar energy. ABB’s substantial support was essential that this flight could become reality. In 2014 ABB and Solar Impulse concluded a technical alliance, in order to push the joint vision of reducing the consumption of resources and to promote the greater use of renewable technologies. This cooperation is setting standards, how limits can be pushed by visionary research, and shows what will be ecologically possible in the near future.

ABB offers the industry’s broadest portfolio of solar PV energy solutions for residential, industrial and commercial buildings, as well as large utility-scale plants. ABB’s products are characterized by compact design, easy maintenance and maximum power efficiency combined with high reliability. The ABB booth at INTERSOLAR (Hall B3, Booth 310) will showcase ABB’s string inverters, including the new UNO-2.0/3.0/3.6/4.2-TL and TRIO-50.0. The new central inverter, PVS980, will be introduced as well as packaged solutions for utility scale PV plants. These new products and solutions are designed to optimize return on investment in plants of any size.

The UNO single-phase string inverter family has been extended to include four new models for residential applications. These new transformerless string inverters are targeted at the same residential market currently served by the PVI series, but addresses the entry-level segment bringing additional value in terms of ROI, ease-of-installation, reliability and improved management. The TRIO-50.0 is a three-phase string inverter for the efficient implementation of decentralized plants in commercial to utility-scale applications, delivering high flexibility in the design of large-scale installations as a result of its modular concept and installation versatility. The demand from commercial and industrial markets for decentralized installations with lower maintenance costs is met by this new high power transformerless 50 kW string inverter.

In the residential segment, ABB will cast its spotlight on its new REACT product, a photovoltaic inverter with an energy storage system designed for the smart city of the future. REACT can store, distribute and optimize the use of solar energy in the home through its integrated battery and intelligent energy management system.

The ABB central inverter product range has expanded this year to include the new low maintenance, high power outdoor utility scale inverter, PVS980. With a DC input voltage of up to 1500 VDC and innovative cooling technology, this cost effective product is the ideal solution for multi-megawatt PV plants. Optimized packaged solutions are also highlighted this year with ABB transformers and ABB SafeRing switchgear shown with the PVS800 central inverter.
