CEO remuneration in the PV sector

At the start of the 26th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC), HR Personal Consulting, an Executive Search firm specialised in the Renewable Energy (RE) sector, will present its latest remuneration study.

While a similar study conducted two years ago focused on the remuneration of executives and board members of German RE companies, it is the aim of this new survey to provide a view on the Photovoltaic (PV) industry wordlwide: which CEO creates the highest value in relation to his or her salary?

The analysed data are based on the companies listed on the Photon Photovoltaic Stock Index (PPVX), as far as they revealed the compensation of their CEOs. These salaries were set in relation to key financial figures of fiscal year 2010, like turnover and earnings. The results: The "Pay for EBIT performance" indicator as well as the "Pay for Revenue performance" ratio clearly show Xu Guo Jun, CEO of Apollo Solar Technology Holdings Limited, as the best performer. Zhu Gong Shan of GCL – Poly Energy Holdings Limited and Guenther Cramer of SMA Solar Technology AG are sharing the second rank.

However, only 14 of the 30 companies listed on the PPVX are disclosing the remuneration of their CEOs. "This is a depressing result for an industry like the PV that should be committed to sustainability and transparancy per se," states Michael Hoppenburg, Managing Director of HR Personal Consulting.

The consultants will present further results of the study at their booth B3G/C6 at the EU PVSEC in Hamburg. With regard to the venue of the EU PVSEC 2012 in Frankfurt am Main, Michael Hoppenburg is happy to say that "after the EU PVSEC 2006 in Dresden, where our headquarters is, we will have another home game next year, because we recently opened an office in Frankfurt as well. We are looking forward to it!" Contact: HR Personal Consulting GmbH Johann Kindt T +49 351 31281-0 E johann.kindt@hr-personal-consulting.com
