The photovoltaic plant works in full synergy with the existing power generation system of Bhit gas treatment plant, optimising operational costs with the shut down one of the existing gas turbines.

The significant result has been achieved thanks to the combined engineering activity born from the collaboration with Reon Energy. This partnership created the optimal conditions to reach the best solution for a fully integrated system. “We are pleased to partner with Convert on this unique project of world first integration of solar with brownfield gas plant for ENI New Energy. The engineering excellence and world class product quality of the convert trackers were crucial in the projects success and we look forward to more projects in partnership with Convert” – said Sulaiman ur Rehman VP Commercials REON Energy.

The completion of the Bhit Plant has been crucial for a country that presents great opportunities but has to face energy deficit.
According to International Energy Agency (IEA) estimates, 74 percent of the Pakistani population – around 154 million people – had access to electricity in 2017, whereas, 51 million people do not have access to electricity.

In the current scenario, renewable energy (RE) resources can play an important role in closing the deficit. With current government’s tilt towards renewable energy, new energy policy for the next 25 years is in the making. It is envisioned that renewable energy will have 20% – 30% share in the total energy mix, by 2030”. Convert reconfirms all the interest in bringing its engineering and expertise in a promising country of great potential that represents a big challenge.
