Danish-based International Power Electronics manufacturer will demonstrate string inverter technology’s suitability for residential, commercial and large power plant builds Loves Park, IL, October 10, 2011.

The Danfoss Group, a leading provider of VLT Drives, Power Electronics and photovoltaic inverters, will showcase its string inverter series at Solar Power International (SPI) this October 17-20, 2011 in Dallas, Texas.

A Trusted Name “Our U.S. team has worked very hard to establish a name people can trust in Power Electronics throughout North America”, said Mark Haug, Director of Strategic Marketing for Danfoss Solar Inverters, America. The Danfoss Group has over forty years of power electronics knowledge and expertise at its disposal and has developed products which position it as one of the leading players in solar inverter technology.

TLX inverters utilised at 80 MW facility

“As a result of our string inverter concept, the TLX Pro+ series is in the final stages of installation of an 80 MW solar field in Eggebek, Germany; which will stand as one of the largest solar energy production facilities in the world. The Danfoss string inverter solution makes it possible to significantly increase energy output of the area, compared to traditional central inverters, because it allows more solar modules to be installed while simultaneously utilizing the solar modules to the maximum.

To increase the output energy of a PV system, it is important to have an efficient Maximum Power Point Tracker (MPPT). Danfoss inverters offer 3 MPP trackers (one per string) which track the local power points continuously to ensure the most optimal global power point is found. The performance of the Danfoss MPPT is very high; namely 99.9 percent in steady state and 99.8 percent in dynamic conditions.

Further, installation of the inverters can take place in several parts of the plant at the same time with the teams eventually meeting up in the middle, making the process far more efficient, and significantly lowering costs. The Master inverter feature of Danfoss’ TLX Pro inverters also makes the installation more efficient. The master inverter can manage up to 100 inverters from a single inverter. The settings of the master are thereby replicated to the inverter network thus lowering commissioning costs.

American facilities in preparation for its North American launch

The Danfoss Group has expanded its Loves Park facilities to accommodate a dedicated Danfoss Solar Inverters U.S. team. “We want to present the best conditions possible for success”, Haug continued. The Illinois expansion will also bring new jobs, research & development and manufacturing to several regions throughout the country.

Residential, commercial & large power plant inverters

Danfoss Solar Inverters offers a comprehensive line of solar inverters for residential, commercial and large power plant builds. Well suited for commercial & large power plant builds, the TLX series utilises three maximum power point trackers (MPPT) to control the performance of each PV string reducing the effects of shading or debris, during dynamic conditions. This unique feature allows for the highest efficiency and production in the market today.

“We are excited and look forward to the opportunity to provide a globally proven technology to a market on the verge of an energy transformation. Our inverters are designed to meet the complete range of residential, commercial and large power plant builds,” Haug concluded.

Patented water cooling for solar & wind

The Danfoss team of power electronics and solar energy experts will also be on hand introducing our patented Shower Power water cooling power stacks designed for wind applications and IGBT power modules for solar energy applications.
