All functions integrated in the storage cabinet
With capacities of 13 to 65 kWh, the ecoBatterySystem functions as a building’s energy control center, combining energy management and smart-home functions. The 13-26 kWh version of the energy control center, including the integrated three-phase 25 kW inverter, has a footprint of just 63x83x140cm (width by depth by height). The pre-integrated components make it quick to install, and the system is compatible with all types of power generators and consumers. The ecoBatterySystem also has a mains disconnector and is able to form a standalone network in the event of a power failure.
The storage cabinet also houses sensors for measuring the energy flows in a building, which monitor the yield of the photovoltaic system and major household energy consumers such boilers and electric vehicle charging stations. All system components can be interlinked.
Pirmin Reichmuth, Managing Director of ecocoach, says: “Our open ecocoach technology enables new functions and energy sources to be added to the system at any time and step by step. Spare parts are guaranteed to be available for at least 15 years. Both of these factors make the entire system particularly sustainable.”
The integration of battery storage and a charging station make for charging capacities of up to 25 kW. This means that electric vehicles can be charged quickly, even without a particularly powerful house connection. The system is also able to optimize the charging process to make sure that it uses as much low-cost, carbon-neutral photovoltaic power as possible.
Industry-standard hardware
The energy management system consists of a powerful industrial PC from Beckhoff, a leading system control manufacturer, and ecocoach’s software, which comes with a set-up tool for easy installation and an app for operation. Compliance with industry hardware standards makes the system particularly secure, scalable and expandable to suit the size of buildings and number of consumers.
Cost savings through energy efficiency
“Ecocoach brings all system components together, offering a single, compact solution,” says Mr Reichmuth. “This has the double advantage of making installation and operation very easy and optimizing energy flows in the house particularly effectively. In a four-person, single-family house including e-mobility with a 12 kWp photovoltaic system and 13 kWh battery storage, our system achieves more than 8,000 kWh self-coverage over the course of one year.”
