JinkoSolar’s Cheetah Success Hits 9GW of Backlog Orders

Cheetah is shifting brand loyalists and economy-panel buyers from poly to mono and from 156” to 158.75″, while not changing their installation habit. As Cheetah enters its second year—Jinkosolar must prove that its wide appeal isn’t just a temporary rush of early adopters. Upgrades from Cheetah to Cheetah+ power up to 440 watt, convincing consumers to fundamentally reassess how they value an established product. It’s worth considering that Cheetah itself influences the buyer’s decisions.

Solar utility customers are fairly predictable. They stick with technologies that are similar to the ones they used before. Cheetah, Swan, and Tiger, so far, has shifted loyalists with an allure of new technology, high performance, and reliability. Tiger is built for power and energy density, Swan is defined by its less weight more efficient bifacial, while Cheetah is attracting conservative customers who prefer carrying proven models of high performance.

Jinkosolar is on pace next year to become the first company in the world to sell over 70GW of solar panels. To maintain its lead, it must continue to draw customers away from low efficient products. “Models and technologies are fluid and fragmented as they continuously refine them. Today’s best technology maybe tomorrow’s entrance level,” said Kangping Chen. This sense of urgency and non-stop innovation can unify customers.
