Comprising some 550 thousand photovoltaic modules, the solar plant should start operating by the end of 2019 and, once fully operational, will be able to generate 600 GWh per year, avoiding the emission into the atmosphere of about 300,000 tons of CO2 per year.
The construction of Magdalena II will be based on Enel’s “Sustainable Construction Site” model, which incorporates the rational use of resources, such as water saving systems and recycling processes.
EGP will also employ several innovative construction practices and tools on site, such as smart tracking of components, advanced digital platforms and software solutions to monitor and remotely support site activities, including plant commissioning. These tools and solutions will allow for quicker, more accurate and reliable data collection on site activities, improving the overall quality of construction and facilitating communication between on-site and off-site teams.
In Mexico, Enel Green Power manages around 1,816 MW, of which 675 MW come from wind energy, around 1,089 MW from solar and 53 MW from hydropower.
In the state of Coahuila, Enel Green Power is completing the 200 MW Amistad wind farm and has started building the 100 MW Amistad II wind facility, while in the state of Tamaulipas the company is building the 103 MW Salitrillos wind farm.
