The plant, composed of polycrystalline modules produced by Martifer Solar in Europe (in its factory of Oliveira de Frades – Portugal), started its operation on the 23rd of August 2012.

The plant will benefit from the feed-in-tariff of the Italian “Quarto Conto Energia” for rooftop systems with at least 60% of the components with European supply.

The initiative was developed by Novapower, a company belonging to Merloni Group Holding (holding of the Merloni family’s branch that is the controlling shareholder of Ariston Thermo), which commissioned to Martifer Solar the turnkey construction and future maintenance of the plant, built on Ariston Thermo’s roof – a complex morphology coverage with partial presence of Eternit, which has been removed. The project was realised thanks to the financing of BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions.

According to Valerio Senatore, General Manager of Martifer Solar for Italy "This experience is relevant in order to demonstrate our company’s ability to operate in Italy, not only on large-scale plants on ground, but also in the segment of rooftops, as in several other countries where the group operates. We are also proud to work for such a prestigious Italian group in the world.”

"The cooperation with Martifer Solar," states Sisto Merolla, CEO of Novapower, "allowed us to realise a complex plant on a factory of the Group, struggling against time in order to benefit from the “Quarto Conto Energia”.

Actually, from the 27th of August onwards the “Quinto Conto Energia” became effective in Italy. With a cap of 700 million euros, all-inclusive feed-in-tariffs (encompassing incentive plus electricity sale) and an obligation to enroll in a register for installations beyond 12 kWp, the entry into force of this Decree is postponed to the 1st of January, 2013 for installations on public buildings or areas of public administration.
