Conergy is acting as general contractor and also supplying all the solar components to be installed at the park. Conergy Partner EBB Renewable Energy GmbH from Flensburg was responsible for the project development.
The Grimmen solar park relies on Conergy quality
The North German private investor of the solar plant has already realised two solar parks as well as further rooftop projects with Conergy in the past and is now also relying on 100 percent German quality from domestic manufacture for solar park number three in Grimmen. The approximately 35,000 PowerPlus modules of the 220,000 square metre park are manufactured at the companys module factory in Frankfurt on the Oder, the approx. 18 kilometres of mounting systems come from the groups mounting system plant in Rangsdorf near Berlin and the electronics also come from Germany. The company manufactures the inverters, which feed the solar power into the power grid, in Bad Vilbel in Hesse.
Clean solar power to supply over 60 percent of Grimmens inhabitants
The park in the Grimmen industrial zone is scheduled for start-up by the end of the year. By then, the largest part of the solar park is to be completed. The solar plant will generate eight million kilowatt hours of clean solar power per year in future, supplying just under 3,200 private households or over 60 percent of Grimmens inhabitants. The park, which is located around 30 kilometres south of Stralsund in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, will prevent approx. 4,800 tons of the damaging greenhouse gas CO2 being produced each year, corresponding to the emissions of almost 2,500 cars.
Sun supplying 43,000 households in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern with clean energy
The North is increasingly also warming to solar energy in addition to the traditional wind energy, says Conergy Germanys boss Stefan Balbierz. After all, it has the advantage of being decentralised and therefore producing the energy where it is actually consumed. Since 2006, the volume of solar energy generated in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern each year has risen more than tenfold. In 2010, the sun thus supplied 43,000 households with clean energy. This means that the Energy Switch decided by the politicians has already arrived here.
