Motech announces SunSavings service for Taiwan market

Motech’s SunSavings service stemmed from the Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) project of Taiwan’s “Million Solar Rooftop PVs” promoted by the Bureau of Energy (BOE) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). Based upon the concept of “Sunshine + rooftop + PV system = $$$ (money),” three programs were derived from Motech’s SunSavings service:

  1. Everything Ready: This program is suitable for people with own funds and spare rooftops. Motech will assist the applicant to apply for PV system installation and FIT to the BOE and Taiwan Power Company. The applicant will thus receive long-term investment income and contribute to energy conservation and carbon reduction by selling clean solar energy to Taiwan Power Company at prices higher than that of cost.
  2. Investment Funds: This program is suitable for people with own funds but no spare rooftops. Motech will find a leasable rooftop and use the fund from the applicant to install a PV system on this rooftop. After the deduction of rooftop rent and PV system maintenance cost, the remained FIT income will be given to the applicant as her or his return on this green energy investment.
  3. Rooftop Leasing: This program is suitable for people with spare rooftops but no own funds. Motech will assist the applicant to lease her or his rooftop to people who want to install PV systems. The applicant will receive monthly rents. In this way, people can earn rents for their spare rooftops, implement environmental protection, as well as save electricity cost by having a PV system installed on the rooftop, which will form a shade cover to avoid direct sunlight.

Through the roll-out of “SunSavings” service, Motech expects to motivate Taiwanese people to take advantage of government’s solar subsidy scheme and implement environmental protection. Regardless of the rise of electricity rates and prices, Motech’s SunSavings service will help Taiwanese people in many respects, such as money making through FIT subsidies, electricity saving on air conditioning, and energy conservation and carbon emission reduction.
