New Fronius String Control 100/12 string monitoring system

The new Fronius String Control is the perfect monitoring system for the Fronius IG Plus series, particularly for 3-phase Fronius IG Plus 120V and 150V devices. Technical specifications such as the number of inputs, current carrying capacity and input voltage, have been tailored specifically to suit the Fronius IG Plus series.

"Fronius String Control products are extremely popular around the world – demand is very high. The Fronius String Control 100/12 represents a valuable addition to the successful product family," explains Franz Dietachmair and Hannes Wendeler, sales managers at Fronius International GmbH.

The string levels are monitored using two separate measuring channels, through which the photovoltaic currents are continuously measured. If there is a problem with one or several strings, such as shading, module failure, broken or chaffed cabling, the operator is immediately informed by the relevant system monitoring. Loss of yield can be avoided by early fault detection. Up to 12 strings can be combined in the device on one DC main line.

The Fronius String Control 100/12 is compatible with all Fronius DATCOM components. All analyses are displayed as usual via Fronius Solar.access, an intelligent software program for recording, storing and analysing system data. The device is for indoor and outdoor use and does not require an additional wall bracket.

In addition, the ability to install an overvoltage protector means that maximum levels of flexibility and safety are provided. The string monitoring system is recommended for use with crystalline modules, but is also compatible with thin-layer modules.

The Fronius String Control 100/12 is mainly used for small commercial or agricultural systems, i.e. systems from 10 kW upwards. The resulting cost benefits depend on the system's operating environment. The indicators for this include the distance between the modules and inverter, the cable size and the number of inverter inputs. It is also easier to install the inverter, as the time and expense required for routing cables is kept to a minimum by using just one main line.
