The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is supporting the expansion of renewable energy developer Green Genius with an equity investment of €100 million. Once approved by the competition authorities in the relevant countries, the EBRD will become a minority shareholder in the company.

Trinasolar’s factory in Yancheng, Jiangsu province, has been granted zero-waste landfill and zero-carbon factory (Type I) three-star certification by TÜV Rheinland, becoming the first company to obtain a zero-waste landfill certificate and the first in the PV industry to obtain both certificates from TÜV Rheinland.

SEG Solar (SEG) commenced construction of its integrated photovoltaic industrial park in Kawasan Industri Terpadu Batang, Central Java, Indonesia. This initiative marks SEG’s commitment to global expansion and investment in Indonesia, aiming to establish a 5GW annual production capacity for silicon ingots, wafers, cells, and modules, making it the largest vertically integrated photovoltaic industrial park in Indonesia.

For the second time, Jinkosolar leads the list of solar companies that won patents for new inventions. According to the latest patent leaderboard released by the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce（ACFIC）, JinkoSolar is the highest patent holder for 2023 in the solar category, with a massive 4,100 patents registered and 2,280 granted.

Dany Qian, VP of Jinkosolar, said the company plans to make money off its patent portfolio in the future, indicating Jinkosolar is leading the industry in looking at new ways to cash in on its intellectual property.

Johnson Controls today announced a significant expansion at its Holme heat pump and chiller facility in the region of Aarhus, Denmark. The development will allow the company to produce and test larger, high-capacity commercial and industrial heat pumps to meet growing demand from customers across the globe. The investment is expected to create over 100 new jobs and is scheduled for completion by early 2026.

OMV Petrom, the largest integrated energy producer in Southeastern Europe, closed the acquisition of several photovoltaic projects from the Danish company Jantzen Renewables ApS. The projects are to be developed in Teleorman county and are now at the “ready-to-build” stage. The installed power of these photovoltaic parks will be ~710 MW, being among the most important projects of this type and development stage in Southeastern Europe.
