S-Energy Co., Ltd, South Korean tier-one module manufacturer announced the commencement of the commercial operations of 33 MW utility-scale PV project on an abandoned golf course in Japan.

The TOJO 33MW PV project was led by a joint venture formed by S-Energy and Japan-based renewable energy company CEF and broke ground on an abandoned golf course in June of 2014. Through the partnership, S-Energy supplied all the materials including modules and CEF undertook construction work. It values at approximately USD $85 million.

The joint venture is responsible for the maintenance and monitoring of the project after its completion.

In addition, the two companies invested approximately USD $7 million into the development of M-Crane which allows three workers to install up to500kW per day by using vacuum gripper. This crane was used for the project, contributing to easing the shortage of manpower, lowering the amount of labor cost, and helping the installation in a fast, safe and easy way.

S-Energy said: “this project is important because it not only brings a meaningful experience to a growing market in Japan, but it also lights the way for the improvement in sales figures through further aggressive marketing based on a variety of experiences S-Energy has had” and added “we will use the reference of M-crane as an opportunity to expand its global market beyond Japan.”
