A solar combiner box isnt your typical red carpet accessory; however, a combiner box is an integral part of a photovoltaic (PV) solar system. In short, a combiner box is a high voltage DC fuse box that provides over-current protection to the solar array wiring, similar to the breaker panel found in most homes and buildings.
In addition to providing this important safety function, a combiner box also serves as a convenient place to combine the outputs (connections) of a large number of solar panels before connecting them to the inverter (the device that converts the power to the AC power we use in our homes and offices) hence the products name.
The Emmys solar system is part of Foxs Green it. Mean it. campaign. This 50-kilowatt solar system goes prime time during the official live pre-show Countdown To the Emmys, airing Sunday, Sept. 18 (7:00-8:00 PM ET live/4:00-5:00 PM live PT) on FOX. After the show, the system will be donated to a non-profit, charitable organization.
We were happy to donate several combiner boxes to be used at one of the most iconic American events of the year, and hope that this helps put the spotlight on the vast amount of renewable energy resources in the US, said Jason Schripsema, CEO of SolarBOS. We also look forward to donating these systems to a charitable organization that can make use of it after the awards ceremony.
The many sustainable enhancements of the awards event will include carpet manufactured from recycled materials, energy-efficient lighting, and locally sourced and organically grown food. FOX believes this years red carpet pre-show will be the most visible eco-friendly event of its kind.
