The energy storage solution for energy management in building and microgrids

Share

With over 45 years’ expertise in energy conversion and more than 90 years in electrical protections, Socomec now launches the new Energy Storage System (ESS) for on-grid and off-grid applications with typical loads between 33 kW and 1 MW.
What is Socomec’s Energy Storage System?
Socomec’s ESS solution offers the following bidirectional power converter SUNSYS PCS², AC and DC cabinets including all the necessary protection and lithium-ion battery storage solution. All manufactured by Socomec, for safe operation and maintenance.
For microgrid applications that have several sources of energy (grid, diesel genset, renewable energy, etc.), Socomec can also provide control systems and paralleling cabinets to connect and synchronize these sources and to ensure continuity and quality of supply.
SUNSYS PCS²: power conversion at the heart of the ESS Socomec’s Power Conversion System is available in two versions:
SUNSYS PCS² – Power Conversion System and Storage – and SUNSYS PCS² IM – Power Conversion System and Storage with Islanding Mode, with a power of 33, 66 or 100 kVA per unit. It is a scalable solution that can be put in parallel to reach MW scale installations, such as in the USA where the UL version of the SUNSYS PCS² 100 kVA is used in the 2016 largest indoor ESS installation with 1.3 MW/2.6 MWh.

The real advantage of the SUNSYS PCS² IM is that it can work connected either to the grid or without any grid. Cyril Carpentier, Business Developer Energy Storage at Socomec, explains: “Our SUNSYS PCS² IM is grid forming. This means that in the absence of the grid, it sets the voltage and the frequency like an UPS, to supply a microgrid having both loads and renewable energy production”.
