Net metering introduced in Albania

The scheme will be open to renewable energy systems not exceeding 500 kW in capacity. The Albanian government expects the program to enable the deployment of 200 MW of PV.

The new net metering tariff will be equal to market prices and will go into force as soon as the Albanian government approves it. According to a local interest group led by Albanian company EuroElektra, that could happen within the next two weeks. Overall, the scheme could facilitate the installation of around 200 MW of solar power.

India Power wins Albania’s large-scale solar tender

The Kolkata-based developer will build a 100 MW solar park in the Akërni salt flats, near Vlorë. A 50 MW section of the plant will sell power to the local distributor at €59.9 per MWh over a 15-year period, while the remaining portion will sell electricity at market prices.

Albania sets tariff of €100/MWh for PV projects up to 2 MW

The regulated tariff, which was previously granted only to small and medium hydro- power plants, was extended to PV up to 2 MW and wind projects not exceeding 3 MW in size.

Two more 2 MW PV project proposals submitted to Albanian authorities

Overall, 11 similar proposals for PV and hydropower projects of up to 2 MW have been filed to date by the Albanian Ministry of Energy and Industry.

Albania sees number of PV projects to compete in upcoming auction increase

Through the auction, which will receive the support of the European Bank for Development and Reconstruction (ERBD), the government hopes to install between 30 MW and 50 MW of solar.
