Sunman brings glass-free PV modules to European market

Power provider Stadtwerke Waldkirch has built a 264 kW PV system in Germany with Sunman’s glass-free modules, as a titanium rooftop at the project site made it impossible to use conventional modules.

Germany: renewables covered 54% of net power production in March

Germany set a new record in March as more than half of its power was generated from wind, PV and other renewables. In the first quarter, renewables accounted for 45.4% of net electricity generation, according to Energy Charts from Fraunhofer ISE.

Germany deployed 1 GW of solar in first two months of 2019

Approximately 420 MW of solar power was newly installed in February. The strong growth for the first two months of the year was mainly due to the FIT cuts for commercial PV projects.

Average price in Germany’s first special PV tender reaches €0.065/kWh

Germany’s Federal Network Agency awarded 121 contracts and 505 MW of PV capacity in the auction. The bidding round was clearly oversubscribed, but 17 bids with a total output of almost 200 MW had to be ruled out due to formal errors.

Renewables made up almost 65% of net power production in Germany last week

Renewable energy had a 64.8% share of electricity generation, according to solar research institute Fraunhofer ISE. The achievement was mainly due to strong production from wind facilities.

Germany deployed 579 MW of new solar capacity in January

Last month’s jump in new installations was mainly due to the pending FIT cut for installations not larger than 750 kW.

Prices rise slightly in Germany’s first PV tender of the year

Last year’s trend continued in the first 2019 round of PV tenders. The average final price was €0.0480/kWh. Almost all the selected projects will be on arable land in disadvantaged areas of Bavaria.

Unsubsidized 175 MW solar project under development in Germany

EnBW is planning a big solar park in Weesow-Willmersdorf, in the northeastern region of Brandenburg. If built, the project would become Germany’s largest solar plant. The company says it has a pipeline of unsubsidized projects with a combined capacity of 800 MW.

Germany to install more than 10 GW of PV before 2022 contraction

Extraordinary PV tenders by the federal government will provide for more growth. Market research company EuPD Research expects newly installed capacity of 4 GW in 2021. After that, however, the market could see a sharp reduction, after the 52 GW cap for solar subsidies is reached.

3

Germany installed almost 3 GW of solar in 2018

PV demand grew 68% year-on-year from the level seen in 2017 as Germany’s cumulative installed solar generation capacity reached 45.92 GW.
