Days after the Oman Power and Water Procurement company (OPWP) launched a tender for 500 MW of PV capacity, the country’s major oil producer has issued its own tender for another 100 MW.
The tenders’ capacity will be increased gradually starting from next March. The move is part of the French government’s strategy to accelerate the development of solar, and reach its 2023 targets.
Prodiel will begin construction on the 162 MW PV plant, developed by Norway’s Scatec Solar and Statoil, “imminently”. The US$215 million project is expected to be operational in Q4 2018.
Canadian Solar Inc. has won a contract for 17.87 MWp in Japan’s first auction for large-scale solar projects. A total of 141.3 MW was awarded last month.
A Cypark Resources Berhad (CRB) subsidiary has been awarded a 30 MW PV project in Malaysia’s latest solar auction. The country is expected to install 197 MW this year.
