Work on the system, located in Pak Thong Chai in the province of Nakhon Ratchasima, is being carried out on behalf of local investor, CH. Karnchang Public Company Limited. It is the second time Conergy has worked for them.

Conergy will act as general contractor for the nine MW plant, which will be built across 79,000 square meters, in addition to being responsible for the project planning, engineering and supply of components.

A total of 64,000 thin film photovoltaic modules will be installed by Conergy and local partner Ensys Co. Ltd, along with 27 inverters. Work is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2012.

The company adds that it sees "great" growth potential in both Southeast Asia and Thailand. "The Thai government has already initiated the move towards sustainable energy and plans to have achieved a solar market volume totaling 500 megawatts of installed capacity by 2020," it said in a statement, adding, "In future, small plants on private houses might possibly also benefit from the state-guaranteed feed-in tariffs besides the large solar plants – a promising outlook for the Asian Conergy team, which saw its sales increase by more than 60 percent in the first nine months of 2011."
