Google invests further $94 million in PV

Google has been aggressively pursuing its goal to become carbon neutral and investing a range of renewable energy projects including photovoltaic parks and solar leasing schemes. Adding to these, the company has announced investments in three further projects worth 88 megawatt (MW).

In its announcement, on the company’s official sustainability blog, Google advised that the projects would be realized in partnership with global investment firm KKR and solar developer Recurrent Energy.

The installations will feed electricity back into the Sacramento Municipal Utility District Grid under the utility’s new feed-in tariff program. The Google projects will be the first to do so under the scheme.

Google indicated in the blog post, by Axel Martinez, Assistant Treasurer at Google Treasury, the company will be looking to expand its clean energy portfolio further next year.
