Waaree Energies Ltd., an Indian EPC contractor, last week signed a deal to engineer, procure and construct a 75 MW solar PV plant in the Indian state of Gujarat.
The contract, signed at the Intersolar India exhibition, will augment the firms growing Indian PV portfolio, which has reached 200 MW of commissioned capacity nationwide.
Following the announcement of the deal, Waaree issued a statement this week confirming that it had placed an order with Chinese ICT giant Huawei for the delivery of 100 MW of string inverters and smart PV systems to be deployed at solar projects across India.
The name of the company that commissioned the 75 MW Gujarat plant has not yet been disclosed, but Waaree confirmed that it will design, manufacture, supply, install and operate and maintain the facility, which is scheduled to be commissioned by March next year.
Waaree manufactures solar PV panles in India (and in August introduced its 345 Wp monocrystalline 17.8% module to the market), and also delivers EPC services across the country, most notably delivering a 50 MW solar park in Madhya Pradesh this year. The company is also working on the completion of a 50 MW solar park in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking of the 75 MW solar deal for Gujarat, Waaree director Viren Doshi said: "This will be one of the biggest solar plants to be built in Western India at a single location. This contract gives us a further impetus in implementing the turnkey projects in the solar sector, which in India is poised for huge growth."
Over the current fiscal year, Waaree is expected to commission some 300 MW of solar PV projects, the company said in a statement.
