JinkoSolar to supply 81 MW of PV modules to South African project
12. December 2012 | Applications & Installations, Industry & Suppliers | By: Becky Beetz/Sandra EnkhardtJinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd has signed a contract with WBHO-Building Energy (Pty) Ltd. (WBHO-BE) to supply 81 MW of its photovoltaic modules to a project located in the Cape province. The company has also revealed more of its plans for 2013.

The Chinese photovoltaic manufacturer has signed a fixed price contract under which it will supply WBHO-BE with 344,540 modules for its photovoltaic plant in the Gamagara Local Municipality.
The project, which will be developed, designed, constructed and commissioned by WBHO-BE, was approved under the first bidding round of South Africa’s Renewable Energy Programme. Module shipments are scheduled to start in Q1 2013, and should be complete before the end of Q4.
In related news, JinkoSolar entered into a US$1 billion strategic cooperation agreement with the Guangdong Branch of China Development Bank last week. The company said the financing is intended to be used for overseas expansion, merger, acquisition and downstream business, including project development and EPC for photovoltaic power plants.
A spokesperson further told pv magazine that while they could not reveal any specific details, if JinkoSolar were to acquire a company, it would be one that focuses on the project business. Furthermore, while it has concentrated on the Chinese market this year, next year it plans to expand its European project business.
JinkoSolar will initially focus on the Romanian, German, Spanish and Ukrainian markets, before turning its attention worldwide. "The Swiss branch is our European headquarters," said Sebastian Liu from the company’s investor relations business. He added, "We want to use it as a platform to develop our project business in the European and then world market."
