The two plants – the 69.5 MW Inti Photovoltaic Project and the 54 MW Pacific Photovoltaic Project – will be located in the town of Maria Elena, Tocopilla Province, Antofagasta Region, north of the Crucero Substation and next to transmission lines of the SING Electric System.

Divided into different phases, construction is scheduled to commence between 2013 and 2014, with commercial operations beginning between 2014 and 2015. A total of US$247 will be invested in the projects, which are expected to create 148 jobs during the construction phases.

"Thanks to the excellent solar resource that exists in the area and advances in photovoltaic technology … Pacific Solar SA expects to sell power directly to the spot market," said the company in a statement released.
