The 197,803 solar modules will be used in an agricultural PV power plant project located in Xishuangbanna. While the first project phase is 51 MW, it expects to ramp up to 100 MW.

The modules should all be shipped by Q3 of this year to Yunnan Electric Power Design Institute, a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd. The generated energy will be used to power equipment in the tea plantations in the prefecture. No further details were announced.

Trina said it expects to ship modules worth 4.4 to 4.6 GW in 2015, of which 700 to 800 MW will be used for its own projects. Meanwhile, it aims to grid connect 700 to 750 MW worth of projects globally.

The Chinese manufacturer also recently unveiled its plans to develop a 2 GW solar cell and module manufacturing facility in India, and a production facility in Thailand, totaling 700 MW cell and 500 MW module capacity.
