Danish plastic building blocks manufacturer Lego has achieved its goal of being 100% renewable three years early thanks to concerted efforts to rely on solar and wind power at its facilities worldwide.

Over 58% of voters approved the country’s new energy policy, which envisages the progressive phasing out of all the nuclear power plants, and the further development of renewables, especially hydropower and solar.

The government said the tax is expected to reduce budget expense from DKK 4.9 billion to DKK 3.7 billion, and to slow faster than expected development of solar.

Renewable energy power generators installed under the scheme will sell power surplus to local utilities Labrador Hydro and Newfoundland Power starting from July 2017.

Around 101 MW of new PV systems was connected to the grid in Poland last year. Of this capacity, about 73 MW came from residential and commercial solar power generators.

The Tunisian government hopes to allocate 210 MW of wind and solar capacity through the tender. Bids for PV projects must be submitted by Nov. 15, 2017.

The move by the Haryana government seen as clear support of solar industry, designed to lower the financial barriers for renewable energy in the Northern Indian state.

In the latest tender for PV projects up to 12 MW held in March, the Israeli government allocated around 235 MW of solar capacity. Overall, the Middle Eastern country has reached cumulative PV capacity of over 900 MW.

Starting 2018, 400 MW of capacity will be allocated every year in joint auctions for wind and solar projects. German association BSW-Solar asks for a level playing field, and recommends other instruments to promote Germany’s Energy Transition.
