ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, today announced its new three-phase PRO-33.0 string inverter. The new model offers the highest power output of the ABB three-phase string inverter family.

The PRO-33.0 comes with a high maximum DC input voltage of up to 1,100 volts (V), which increases photovoltaic (PV) system design flexibility, giving it an extra margin in cold temperatures. It also allows for longer strings which reduce cabling costs. A safe and intuitive user interface provides for fast and easy commissioning.

“The PRO-33.0 is the result of our goal to develop a high-power, cost-efficient three-phase string inverter ideal for medium and large decentralized PV systems”, said Paolo Casini, Vice President Marketing Solar Inverters of ABB’s Power Conversion business unit. “The inverter offers cost-efficiency in a high power, wall-mountable package with very high conversion efficiency. And the inverter’s optimized topology makes it very cost-efficient.”

The PRO-33.0 features a robust IP65 enclosure and is suited for almost all weather conditions. In addition, it has a single maximum power point (MPP) tracker and advanced grid support functions, which ensures the compatibility with grid codes. Moreover, the compact, all-in-one configurable design with built-in and monitored PV array protection devices ensures reduced system costs and a fast return on investment.

ABB provides the most comprehensive portfolio of products, systems and solutions along the solar PV value chain that enable the generation, transmission and distribution of solar power for both on-grid and off-grid applications. ABB’s offering includes inverters, low-voltage and grid connection, stabilization and integration products, complete Electrical Balance of Plant solutions as well as a wide range of services including operations and maintenance, and remote monitoring.
