The ABB products showcased at Intersolar Europe will range from single-phase string inverters for residential installations up to turnkey station solutions with outputs of up to two megawatts (MW) for use in multi-megawatt PV power plants.

ABB’s offering for large-scale PV power plants includes the PVS800 and ULTRA central inverter series with high efficiency, proven components and compact designs. These products are being installed in large commercial PV plants as well as utility-scale solar power plants around the world and feature robust designs to ensure easy maintenance, maximum energy harvesting, and extremely high reliability.

"We are very pleased to be participating in Intersolar Europe again this year," said Paolo Casini, Vice President Marketing Solar Inverters of ABB’s Power Conversion business unit.

"We will show a diverse portfolio of products and solutions for the entire solar power value chain including a complete range of solar inverters which is one of the broadest in the industry – electrical balance of plant solutions, low voltage products, transformers, switchgear, plant optimization systems and substations for medium and high voltage grid connection. We will also display systems for remote operations and maintenance for all types of solar power generation."

The new very compact PRO-33.0 all-in-one three-phase inverter comes with a high maximum DC input voltage of up to 1,100 volts (V), which increases PV system design flexibility. It also allows for longer strings which reduce cabling costs. A safe and intuitive user interface provides for fast and easy commissioning.

The new ABB inverter station PVS800-IS is a compact, robust and fully-equipped solution for large scale solar power generation. The station houses two 875 kilowatt (kW) or 1000 kW PVS800 central inverters, an embedded auxiliary power system and monitoring system. Thanks to the flexible, integrated DC and AC connection cabinets PVS800-IS connects quickly and easily to a medium voltage (MV) transformer and PV power plant.

REACT, the company’s new energy storage system has been designed with homeowners and small commercial businesses in mind, who would like to have greater independence from utilities. The solution consists of a 4.6 kW single-phase ABB inverter and a lithium-ion battery providing 2 kilowatt hours (kWh) usable energy. The energy storage system, which will be available during the year 2014, has a broad input voltage range as well as high efficiency rates.
