The region’s first solar power plant with an installed capacity of 250kWp, just beside a natural gas combined cycle power plant of ODA? Enerji A.?., has been commissioned and the provisional acceptance was done by TEDA? (Turkish Electricity Distribution Corporation).

The completion of commissioning work was successfully implemented by Asunim Turkey that officially started its activities in Ankara in 2012, within the structure of the well-established Asunim Group, with a large experience of over 165MW of worldwide references. Through this flagship project, Oda? Enerji made an important step in the field of solar energy.

“We are proud to have been selected by Oda? Enerji – a company listed in Istanbul stock exchange,” said Mr. Umut Gürbüz, General Manager of Asunim Turkey.

“Asunim is a leading company in the photovoltaic solar energy sector in Turkey; after commissioning Turkey’s largest roof-mounted solar PV system in Adana, we are happy to connect the first solar system in ?anl?urfa, in the South-Eastern Anatolian region. To promote the development of solar energy, this new project is a significant achievement for raising the awareness for solar investments and the economic development in this eastern region of Turkey. Focusing on cost-effective and modular renewable energy sources such as solar power is the right fit for the increasing South East energy needs. The region’s first solar energy system plays a vital role in revealing the regions’ high solar energy potential.”

“Despite extremely challenging terrain and weather conditions, we didn’t have any delays in the installation and commissioning of the system. Using state-of-the-art solar panels and inverters, Asunim Turkey successfully completed the plant on schedule. Remote control and monitoring provides system performance parameters on a daily basis.

The complete system was configured with 1.000 units of highly-efficient CSUN solar panels and 15 units of SMA inverters. With 25 years plus lifetime, the system is expected to prevent 357 metric tons of CO2 emissions per year. Apart from these environmental benefits, this system will save Oda? Enerji approximately one million euros in electricity costs.”

With this successful project, Asunim has strengthened its position as one of the leaders in the PV industry in Turkey and will continue to implement further tailor made roof-top and ground-mounted systems in 2014.
