Amid growing concerns over global energy security and supply chain disruptions due to recent
geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, this year’s expo carried particular significance. Renewable
energy sectors such as solar, hydrogen, and energy storage systems (ESS) are increasingly
recognized not only as environmentally friendly technologies but also as strategic national assets.
The expo served as a key platform that went beyond technology exhibition, offering practical
market solutions and business opportunities.
Notably, six of the world’s top 10 solar cell and module manufacturers participated, including
Hanwha Solutions Qcells, JA Solar, Canadian Solar, Aiko, TW Solar, and Jinko Solar, showcasing their
latest technologies and competing on a global stage.
In the inverter sector, nine of the world’s top 10 companies—including Huawei, Solis, Growatt,
SofarSolar, Solplanet, Fox ESS, Sigenergy, GoodWe, and Kstar—presented next-generation energy
solutions, further elevating the status of the exhibition as a premier international event.
A highlight of this year’s expo was the newly introduced Agrivoltaics Special Pavilion, launched in
line with active discussions on agrivoltaics legislation. The pavilion attracted significant attention by
presenting solutions that enable both energy self-sufficiency and increased agricultural income. AI-
integrated technologies also gained strong interest. AI-based power demand monitoring solutions
demonstrated advanced capabilities such as power generation forecasting, automated trading of
REC (Renewable Energy Certificates) and SMP (System Marginal Price), and real-time equipment
diagnostics, significantly enhancing energy trading efficiency. Together with high-safety, high-
efficiency ESS solutions, these technologies showcased the future of smart energy management.
The “Korea Renewable Energy Policy and Technology Innovation Roadmap Conference,” hosted by
the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment, provided a platform for sharing policy directions
and technological advancements, including the “Solar Income Village” initiative, further
strengthening collaboration between industry and policy stakeholders.
The exhibition also achieved notable business outcomes. The 1:1 export consultation program,
which invited 101 overseas buyers, resulted in 569 consultation sessions worth approximately USD
700 million, with potential contracts totaling around USD 300 million across 330 cases.
Additionally, the newly introduced Win-Win Procurement Consultation Program between large
corporations and SMEs generated meaningful results. A total of 28 major and mid-sized Korean
companies, including Hanwha, Samsung SDI, Lotte Hi-Mart, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, LG
Display, and LG Chem, participated as buyers and reviewed innovative technologies from 44 SMEs,
leading to procurement consultations worth approximately KRW 29.1 billion (73 cases). This
initiative demonstrated the expo’s role as a practical platform connecting technology, procurement,
and business opportunities.
The concurrently held International Future Energy Conference 2026 also received strong positive
responses. The Photovoltaic Market Insight (PVMI) and Hydrogen Market Insight (H2MI) sessions
brought together 35 speakers from 9 countries and over 400 global experts and industry
professionals, facilitating in-depth discussions on global market trends and policies.
Sessions on agrivoltaics drew particular attention, with active engagement and numerous questions
from participants. Topics ranged from space-based solar power to market trends in Europe and the
United States, highlighting the global scope of the event. Hydrogen sessions also focused on
international markets across Europe, Africa, the United States, and China, as well as hydrogen
projects in the carbon market, receiving highly positive feedback.
Acting Mayor of Daegu, Kim Jeong-gi, stated, “This year’s exhibition reaffirmed the importance of
renewable energy in the face of global energy security challenges. Daegu Metropolitan City will
continue to expand renewable energy initiatives, including integrated support programs and solar
income village projects.”
The International Green Energy Expo 2026 once again demonstrated its role as a leading global
platform driving the renewable energy industry forward.
