JA Energy Storage Brings C&I BESS to More Real-World Applications

The company said the approach is designed for C&I users facing volatile electricity prices, limited grid connection capacity, rising EV charging demand and higher requirements for power reliability.

JA Energy Storage has deployed related projects in public facilities, urban infrastructure, agricultural sites and weak-grid environments. These include a solar-storage-charging project at Shanghai Fengxian Customs, storage applications in car parks and community facilities in Baotou, Inner Mongolia, a solar + storage project for an aquaculture site in Sicily, Italy, and a solar + storage + diesel microgrid project for a farm in Kenya.

At the product level, JA Energy Storage’s JAPlanet system is designed for grid-connected, off-grid and hybrid operation. It can be used for peak shaving, PV self-consumption, demand management, capacity support, backup power and microgrid applications.

The system is based on a 125 kW/261 kWh modular configuration for small and medium-sized C&I projects. Up to 20 units can operate in parallel in grid-connected mode, allowing the system to scale for larger applications.

JAPlanet also supports high- and low-voltage ride-through and black start functionality, helping it adapt to sites with different grid conditions and backup power needs.

The product uses lithium iron phosphate batteries with a cycle life of more than 8,000 cycles. Its liquid cooling system controls cell temperature differences within ±1.5 C, helping improve consistency and reduce degradation. The system’s overall efficiency can reach up to 88%.

Safety features include millisecond-level coordinated protection, online insulation monitoring, a three-level fire alarm mechanism, pack-level detection and thermal runaway warning. The battery compartment and electrical compartment are physically separated to reduce the risk of thermal propagation.

For operation and maintenance, JAPlanet includes battery status estimation, online monitoring, passive balancing and pre-set operating strategies for time-of-use

optimization, demand management, PV self-consumption, microgrid operation, backup power and solar-storage-charging applications.

The system also supports remote diagnostics, cloud-based monitoring, software upgrades and AI-enabled predictive maintenance, which are designed to reduce on-site maintenance requirements and improve system availability.

JA Energy Storage said it will launch its next-generation C&I energy storage product at SNEC in June. The new product will include upgrades in scenario adaptability, safety, efficiency, lifetime performance and intelligent operation, further supporting the company’s Solar + Storage + X applications for commercial and industrial users.
