Cantsink Completes 1 MW Solar Project with Hecate Energy Using Driven Piles

January 15, 2014 – As solar continues to take off in the state of Georgia, Cantsink completed a 1 MW solar project in Woodland, GA. Hecate Energy developed the project from start to finish which was a part of the Georgia Power ASI program, a program for the development of 210 MW of solar projects in the state of Georgia. Cantsink’s President, Patrick Hutchinson, said, “Georgia has made a name for itself on the national scene in the solar industry. We are highly involved in the development of the industry in our state and would like to see its full success in 2014, the second year of the ASI program. We are looking forward to the opportunity and growth to come in our backyard.” Cantsink introduced a driven pile solution in 2013 with their GAYK machine to add to their current helical pile offering. Cantsink and Hecate partnered on this project and used the driven pile option for their foundation solution. The Cantsink team installed 157 driven piers, collaborating with other companies including the EPC for the project, Radiance Solar; GameChange Racking; ReneSola modules and SolarMax inverters. The tolerance for the driven piles was very minimal requiring less than one inch with an installation at the greatest degree of tilt. Cantsink was able to successfully install the foundations to design, meeting the time line and budget for the project. “We were very pleased with the work performed by Cantsink” said Preston Schultz, Development Manager with Hecate Energy. “The project was completed in just over 60-days from mobilization to interconnection which allowed Hecate to meet our obligations with the utility. Cantsink’s work was both efficient and of a high quality; we are confident we have a solar project that will stand the test of time.” Hecate hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony onsite to showcase the solar array. The members from all of the involved companies on the project joined to cut the ribbon together, and the solar project is now providing power to the utility.
