Roth & Rau B.V. in Eindhoven, a member of the Meyer Burger Group, has successfully completed a contract to supply inkjet printers for printing mono crystalline high performance solar cells.
With the PiXDRO ink jet printing technology from Roth & Rau, Meyer Burger is the only company worldwide offering a printing process suitable for the mass production of high efficiency solar cells in combination with electroplating.
The contract also includes wafer inspection systems from Hennecke Systems, another member of the Meyer Burger Group. The total order value is around CHF3.5 million (US$4.8 million).
Delivery of the equipment to the customer’s production site in Malaysia is scheduled for the second and third quarters of 2014.
The highly industrialised PiXDRO JETx inkjet printing system can be used for a variety of applications in the solar and electronic industries.
With its very fine printing technology, the high-precision alignment and contactless deposition, the PiXDRO JETx is the only system specifically suited for the mass production of high performance solar cells. The inkjet printing and inspection systems are planned for use in a 100MW production facility in Malaysia.
The printing systems are capable of front and rear printing up to 900 wafers per hour.

Biel, 10. December 2013 The Swiss inverter manufacturer Sputnik Engineering (SolarMax) is carrying out five large-scale photovoltaics projects in the London area in cooperation with partner companies. For the projects, a total of 127 SolarMax 360TS-SV central inverters will be installed in 65 SolarMax TS-SV Compact Stations. “We are delighted that we have been commissioned with the delivery of the inverters for these ambitious large-scale projects in the London metropolis area. This shows that high quality standards and rapid availability pay off,” says Daniel Freudiger, SolarMax Regional Manager D/A/CH & UK. “Particularly in view of the increasing need for energy world-wide and the increase in energy prices, it is important to implement further large-scale PV projects. These projects are an economic and sustainable alternative to conventional power plants.” The five ground-mounted plants with a total power output of 61.4 megawatts will be completed by the end of March 2014; the first SolarMax products have already been delivered. About SolarMax Sputnik Engineering AG, a Swiss company, is one of the worlds leading manufacturers of grid-connected solar inverters. Under the name SolarMax the company develops, produces and sells inverters, and has done for more than 20 years from photovoltaic plants on single-family homes whose kilowatt output is modest, to the solar power plants whose output is measured in megawatts. The inverter is a key component of the solar plant, transforming the generated direct current into grid-compliant alternating current. 20 years of experience is not only reflected in the Swiss quality, highest efficiency, reliability, and durability of the SolarMax product range; but also in the way the company offers its customers excellent international support in the field of after sales, comprehensive warranty services, and intelligent solutions for system monitoring.
