The second week of July began with negative hourly prices in large parts of the European electricity market, due to high wind energy production. Over the course of the week, wind production fell and, during some hours, prices topped €50/MWh, driven by increased demand. Brent oil futures continued to recover and carbon futures exceeded €29/t, values not registered since early August.
