Central California Almond Growers Association Announces Completion of 1MW Solar System

Central California Almond Growers Association (CCAGA), the largest grower-owned cooperative in the world focused on almond hulling and shelling, has announced the completion of its 1MW ground-mounted solar system at its Kerman facility in California. After a rigorous selection process, CCAGA chose Cenergy Power to engineer and install the large solar system.
CCAGA’s new solar array will produce approximately 1,845,800 kWh of electricity annually for the association, the equivalent of reducing 1,403 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) — equal to the emissions of over 1.3 million pounds of coal burned annually. CCAGA is also poised to save more than half of their Kerman — K-3 facility’s electricity costs annually with the implementation of the solar project.
"Cenergy did an exemplary job with the installation of a beautiful solar array and delivered it on schedule, and with no glitches," stated Mike Kelley, President & CEO of CCAGA, at the solar site’s dedication event last week. "I’ve never seen a major project come online without some problem or issue; this project was smooth from start to finish."
"CCAGA is a world class almond huller and we feel very fortunate to be part of their push into sustainable solar," stated Cenergy Power CEO, Bill Pham.

Eguana Enters Australian Market and Expands AC Battery Applications

Eguana Technologies Inc. continues to deploy its AC Battery energy storage appliance and demonstrate its global capabilities and application diversity as the AC Battery is integrated into an expanding range of control technologies. Eguana announced today that it has begun shipments into solar applications in Australia, and for intermediate storage installed alongside both public and home EV charging stations.
"The adoption of the AC Battery into EV charging applications was just a matter of time" commented Justin Holland, Chief Executive Officer of Eguana. "EV charging is one of the fastest growing uses of electricity and aside from reducing the impact of charging on the power grid storage enables a much higher value to be extracted from the network infrastructure by enabling the delivery of grid services from these distributed energy assets."
Itochu Corporation is leading Eguana’s Australian market entry through the sales and marketing agreement announced in November 2015. "Australia is currently the fastest growing energy storage market in the world and feedback on our product capability, form factor, and the LG Chem Lithium Battery has been excellent, addressing global markets was one of the key values in partnering with Itochu last fall" added Holland.
Eguana continues to focus internal efforts on broadening the product portfolio and growth in the US and European solar+storage segment while these recent moves into new markets and applications further diversify the company’s customer base and addressable market.
While the details of these partnerships remain confidential due to competitive concerns, further details will be announced as Eguana’s customers finalize their market launch plans.

Sun shines on Oregon's newest solar project

NextEra Energy Resources, LLC, through an indirect, wholly-owned subsidiary, announced that it brought into service a 6.8 megawatt (MW) DC ground-mounted solar photovoltaic array in Klamath County, Oregon. The project, which includes 21,964 sun-tracking solar panels, is located on a former Weyerhaeuser industrial site.
"This is a great example of how we can put former industrial property back to work for the people of Oregon, generating clean, renewable energy for years to come," said Matt Handel, vice president of development for NextEra Energy Resources. "We’re pleased to partner with Pacific Power to bring emission-free energy to its customers and in helping the state achieve its renewable energy goals."
The project is expected to generate enough electricity to power an estimated 1,200 homes, and reduces the need for fossil fuel generation that would result in approximately 8,600 tons of carbon emissions per year. Construction began in 2015 and employed more than 100 construction, security and electrical workers from Oregon over the course of the project.
Pacific Power will purchase the energy generated by the solar system as part of a 15-year power purchase agreement, which may be extended for up to two five-year increments.
"The project is great for Bly and Klamath County, which have an important future as a home to renewable energy development," said Todd Andres, regional business manager for Pacific Power, which is part of PacifiCorp. "This is currently the largest solar project in Oregon and we are proud to have it delivering energy to our customers."
