Cheryl Hiles, director, said "Regen's recent ‘Potential Energy: Potential Jobs' report showed there are 10,000 people employed in the renewable energy sector in the south west but that there is potential to create 34,000 jobs by the end of the decade."

She continued "Initiatives like the National Solar Centre are important to develop the local skills and expertise to make the most of the economic opportunities from the rapid growth in solar and other renewable energy. We are pleased that Greg Barker will be able to see this and other leading south west renewable energy initiatives in the marine and communities sector."

Greg Barker will also be visiting companies engaged in the South West Marine Energy Park, a collaborative partnership managed by Regen SW involving local and national government, Local Enterprise Partnerships, technology developers, academia and industry.

Regen will shortly be launching a south west renewable energy manifesto setting out the key steps to making the most of the economic potential of the renewable energy sector.
