The SCHMID Group announced that a Chinese photovoltaic manufacturer signed a contract on the purchase of a turnkey production. The customer, who asked not to be named, will manufacture high-efficiency mono cells with PERC and selective emitter (SE).
The production line with an annual capacity of 40 MW is equipped with SCHMIDs latest technology such as TinPad.
For Dr. Christian Buchner, Vice President of SCHMID's PV business unit, the sale of the production line is a proof of the group's proper product strategy: "For quite some time, the market asks no longer just for performance improvements and cost reductions, but for a viable cell architecture."
For many years, SCHMID has offered systems for PERC/SE production. The difficult market situation delayed necessary technology upgrades. However Buchner is optimistic that business will pick up soon and already has products in his portfolio for producing IBC cells and bifacial cells.
SCHMID will showcase its production processes for these latest trends from 20-22 May at the SNEC in Shanghai (E3 -360 ), and from 4-6 June at the Intersolar Europe in Munich (A3 -490 ).
