The demand for electricity in rural areas is rapidly increasing as local economies transition from agricultural to manufacturing activities and their living standards rise. Symbior Solar Siam implements energy solutions to meet this demand that are quickly implemented and sustainable.

Symbior Solar Siam’s power plant located in Kranuan, Khon Kaen, will provide 1,700 MWh of electricity per year to the community, using 15,000 thin-film photovoltaic (PV) modules supplied by First Solar. A celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony were held last Friday in Kranuan in honor of the power plant’s start of commercial operation. Representatives from commercial partners and the local government joined in to celebrate the event.

"We are proud to witness the effective implementation of Symbior Solar Siam’s business plan on answering the increasing rural demand for electricity in the Kingdom of Thailand. The company resolved the developmental challenges of small solar PV power plants, capturing the opportunities offered by a country blessed with a booming regional economy and abundant solar resources. Symbior Solar Siam’s use of sustainable energy solutions, an important aspect of Symbior Energy’s incubation program, leads to a win-win moment for the power consumers, the project investors, and the company," said Hugo DesRosiers, CEO of Symbior Energy.

Symbior Solar Siam is committed to raising community awareness of the importance and potential of solar energy, including supporting the education of young people on the benefits of renewable energy. The company met that objective in Kranuan by providing two additional solar PV power generation systems to primary schools in the vicinity of the power plant. These systems are a donation to the community, made possible with the help of commercial partners Annex Power, First Solar, and SMA.
