Speakers

Jenny Chase, Manager, Solar Insight Service at Bloomberg New Energy Finance

Jenny Chase is the manager of Bloomberg New Energy Finance’s global Solar Insight Service. She joined BNEF mid-2005 and launched the Solar Insight Service in early 2006, and now runs the team from Bloomberg’s Zurich office. Jenny has conducted or overseen all the research of the Solar Insight Service over its five-year lifespan. This has included PV experience curve analysis, which enabled the team to make a definite prediction of an upcoming sudden 35-40% fall in crystalline silicon module prices, a year before it happened and while most analysts were expecting slow 5-10% per year price slides. The timing of the price decline in early 2009 was predicted by BNEF’s solar team with some accuracy in 2007, based on global supply and demand analysis.

Identifying new benckmarks and innovative technologies defining PV’s future

As utility scale subsidy-free arrays in Europe’s south gain momentum, and the right to self-consume becomes secured across the EU, the role of the prosumer, intelligent battery storage, P2P energy, and distributed PV models such as VPPs are growing in importance.

The Future PV Roundtable will address a range of issues across this dynamic and fast-emerging sector including an examination of the key benchmarks required for subsidy-free utility scale arrays – and the technologies that will enable their rollout. Looking to the rooftop segment, how solar energy from distributed generation and storage systems can be monetized on energy markets is a growing concern, and optimizing self consumption becomes king: energy management, optimization and monitoring, vehicle-to-grid, frequency response and more.
