Japanese producer of CIS solar modules Solar Frontier has been selected to supply its high energy yield panels for a 26 MW PV project set to be located in Raleigh, North Carolina, U.S.

A module supply agreement has been signed between Solar Frontier and Vaughn Industries, an electrical contractor specialist that will be constructing and servicing the solar plant.

Vaughn Industries was attracted to the CIS modules having witnessed their real-world performance at various projects across the Americas, the company CEO Tim Vaughn confirmed. "Solar Frontier is a company whose product we recognize and value for its quality production and high-performance in the field," he said.

Solar Frontier Americas COO Charles Pimentel added: "Solar Frontier is pleased to add this project to our growing footprint in the Americas and, as we expand our presence in the market, to add Vaughn Industries to our expanding network of trusted national construction leaders."

Demand for CIS modules has risen steadily over the past 12 months, with Solar Frontier revealing in July that it had surpassed the 3 GW-mark for CIS module shipments globally.

In June, the company also confirmed the inaugural installation of its flexible CIGS modules at a port terminal array in Singapore.
