Italy registers uptick in new PV installations in May
With 46.9 MW of newly installed capacity, Italy registered its best month in two years despite having no large plants come online. Renewable energy association ANIE Rinnovabili says this year the country may record stronger growth due to renewed business investment incentives and new provisions regulating solar.
Italy tops 20 GW of solar
The Italian PV market grew 7% last year with new capacity additions of 437 MW. Of that figure, only about 47 MW was for installations larger than 1 MW – a clear sign rooftop PV is still driving demand.
Italy added 382 MW of PV in first 11 months of 2017
The Italian solar market grew by 25% in the first 11 months of 2017. This growth was mainly determined by the grid connection of several “grid-parity” PV plants totaling 66 MW, which were installed in Montalto di Castro, Italy’s central region of Lazio.
Italy’s PV sector considers legal actions
ANIE Rinnovabili, the country’s solar PV sector voice, is weighing actions against the feed-in tariff (FIT) cuts recently imposed to existing photovoltaic installations. Tariff reductions were absolutely unnecessary, the energy association says.
