Germany’s KFW finances 123 MW Chile project selected in 2016 auction

The plant is being built by Spanish developer Solarpack in the Atacama desert. The project was selected in an energy auction held by the Chilean government in 2016. At the time, Solarpack’s bid of $29.1/MWh was a record low for solar.

Colombia’s RE auction concludes with no assigned project, new auction to be launched by end of June

The Colombian authorities said the received offers did not comply with the criteria for competition and market dominance. Enel Green Power, Canadian Solar, Trina Solar and Solarpack were among the developers that were admitted to the auction’s final phase.

Portugal approves plan to improve grid, announces 1.75 GW to be allocated in first solar auction

Portugal’s government has approved its 2018-2027 plan to strengthen its grid to integrate large volumes of renewable energy. Environment minister João Matos Fernandes has also revealed the solar auction planned for next summer will offer around 1.75 GW of capacity.

Selected projects will range from 1-100 MW in capacity. The procurement exercise is the third round of Malaysia’s LSS program for large-scale renewables.

Bifacial takes all in Alberta large-scale PV auction, final price cheaper than gas

The Albertan Ministry of Infrastructure allocated around 94 MW of solar capacity and the three selected projects, all using bifacial modules, were secured by Canadian Solar. The projects will generate around 55% of the provincial government’s annual electricity needs.

Abu Dhabi utility fires starting gun on 2 GW solar project

A giant project is planned in Adhafra, near Abu Dhabi. Interested developers have until March 5 to prequalify for the tender.

Croatian utility HEP issues call for utility-scale solar and other renewables

Interested developers of large-scale PV plants, with more than 2 MW capacity, have until the end of the year to send proposals. The expression of interest is for projects to be developed with the utility or to be sold to it.

Advantage solar in Colombia’s first renewable energy auction

Some 22 projects were admitted to participate – 17 of them solar – in the country’s first RE procurement exercise, which will be held on February 26.

Uzbekistan launches 100 MW solar tender for southwest

State-owned energy company Uzbekenergo has issued a request for pre-qualification for the projects, planned for the Navoiy region in southwestern Uzbekistan. The tender process is expected to be finalized by the end of June.
