The Brazilian government is preparing to contract new large-scale PV projects in a new auction to be held in December. The president of the Brazilian solar association ABSOLAR has explained to pv magazine details of the new competition and has also described the future scenarios of utility-scale solar in Brazil.
Overall, the Russian government is reportedly set to allocate around 1 GW of renewable energy capacity next year, but wind is expected to have the largest share.
The tender will be open to solar projects not exceeding 10 MW, while its incentive budget will be €10 million.
Government-run agency EPE had already pre-selected PV projects totaling 18 GW for the contest, which will be held on 18 December.
The French government has announced that 310 projects were selected in the second 150 MW round of its 1.45 GW tender scheme for rooftop PV. The next round will be held in November.
Solar projects with a capacity above 1 MW will compete with wind projects in a 150 MW renewable energy auction to be held in Poland by the end of this year, according to local research institute IEO.
The contracts were scrapped through an auction launched in April to cancel projects selected in reserve energy auctions held between 2014 and 2015.
The regulated tariff, which was previously granted only to small and medium hydro- power plants, was extended to PV up to 2 MW and wind projects not exceeding 3 MW in size.
Solar, however, was excluded from a second energy auction planned for December, which will select wind, biomass, hydro, coal and natural gas-fired combined cycle plants. The Brazilian association ABSOLAR has urged the government to include PV in this auction too.
Overall, the French government allocated 507.6 MW in the tender, which was open to ground-mounted PV systems between 500 kW and 17 MW in size.
