Colombia to launch auction for large-scale solar and renewables

In the auction, which will be held before the next presidential elections in May 2018, the Colombian government will select large-scale solar, wind and biomass projects.

Colombia announces renewable projects to provide power to 60,000 people

The Government of Colombia has dedicated COP 200 billion ($69 million) to renewable projects, as part of the country’s sustainable development objectives. The projects funded will supply up to 60,000 Colombian’s with electricity, according to the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

Colombia issues $66.7 million green bond

Colombia issues legislation for self-consumption

The Colombian government has published the decree that regulates the installation of renewable energy and solar power systems for self-consumption. The new regulation, which applies to systems up to 100 kW, simplifies the procedures for grid-connection and sale of excess power.

Construction to begin on first ever solar power plant in Colombia

Electricity company Celsia will begin work on a 9.9 MW project in March, and grid connection is expected later in 2017.
