The PV panel manufacturing facility is being built by local company Faso Energy with the support of the country’s government and Spanish equipment provider Mondragon.

The European Commission said the support scheme is in line with its 2014 Guidelines on State Aid for Environmental Protection and Energy.

One of the two contracts signed by the Spanish renewable energy company is linked to a PV plant located in the state of Sonora.

The eastern European country saw the addition of only a few hundreds kilowatts of PV over the past few years, and for 2017 just around 200 kW of new PV systems are expected to come online.

Solar had likely the largest share of the 472 projects awarded in the auction, which was open to PV, wind and hydropower projects up to 1 MW.

The Italian solar market has registered a 19% year-on-year growth in the first five months of this year. In May alone, newly installed PV power totaled 95.2 MW.

Both projects are located in the region of Var and are scheduled to be completed by the end of this year.

The Chilean authorities will begin accepting project proposals for the 2017 power auction starting from October 11.

The Italian inverter maker will supply its devices for a large-scale PV project under development in Nevada.

A 30 MW solar plant in Santhiou Mékhé was officially inaugurated by the country’s president Macky Sall. The facility was built by Solairedirect and financed by French investors.
